Ramsey County to Use Utility Manager Server

One of our current projects now underway is with Ramsey County, Minnesota.  The County will be using Utility Manager Server to track and monitor all of its utility usage and costs.  The completed database will contain electric, gas, water, sewer, hot water, and chilled water data.  For the first time, County departments will have the information they need to effectively manage utility bills at their finger tips.

Monthly maintenance of the database will be achieved mostly through electronic means, with a minimum amount of manual entry of utility bills.  The County’s electric and gas provider, Xcel Energy, will supply all of their utility bills electronically through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).  The EDI data will first be translated into a comma-delmited text file, then sent to the County for importing into UM Server.  The Saint Paul Water Department has agreed to send a monthly spreadsheet of the County’s water and sewer usage.  This spreadsheet will also be imported into UM Server using a custom import format that we will develop.
